To the US: Miami

Note: I am beginning to return from my winter break of blog writing, but once I arrive in Cape Town, I will be as active as ever.

Hi All,

This entry is about something that happened a while ago, December 10th to December 13th, my arrival back to the US to Miami. So I went from the cold rainy beaches of Normandy to this hotel where the temperatures did not drop below 70 (22).

Of course, there were many differences that I noticed soon being in Miami instead of Paris:

It was hot and humid!
I got to fresh squeeze orange juice at breakfast
Also at breakfast: bagels and cream cheese (I made up for lost time not being able to have it in Pairs)
Good swimming conditions
Not everybody is very trim
Different fashion agenda: in Miami, fashion is not about the clothes one wears, but much more about the clothes one doesn't wear.
Actual showers and 'normal' bathroom stuff (as well as a bathroom in the room as opposed to down the hall)
Super tall buildings
Everything is in English
EXCEPT for the fact I am in Miami, and Spanish is to Miami what English is to Paris, so there is still a lot of conversation I do not understand.

And of course, beautiful beaches:

The reasons for being in Miami was for my cousins wedding, which happened right on the following lawn. It was a very nice celebration, and the weather was very kind to us (except for an ever so brief shower.)
That is it for now. Before I head off to Cape Town I will write one more entry reflected on France, and in preparation for South Africa.

Until then,
-Andrew
